Introduction to Tibetan Nejang Healing Yoga

YOGA CLASS WITH CHRISTIANA POLITES

Nejang (Tib. གནས་སྦྱངས་) is a Tibetan healing yoga practice that literally means ‘cleaning the energy sites of the body.’ It consists of simple breath work, physical exercises, and self-massage designed to improve the function of the sense organs and inner organs, balance the internal energy, open the channels, and relax the mind. It has roots in the Tibetan Buddhist Kalachakra tradition and has been prescribed to patients by Tibetan physicians for centuries.

In this course, we will discuss the fundamentals of Tibetan Medicine, including the channels and energies of the subtle body, and explore the key points of posture and breath used in Nejang. We will then practice several of the 24 Nejang exercises and explore their therapeutic and diagnostic indications.

$30, Registration at New Renaissance Bookshop

Mantra healing is the practice of using sound as a healing medium -- the primordial sounds of nature, as well as divine words from the Sanskrit and Tibetan languages. It is a powerful method of bringing balance to various diseases, restoring health, and protecting against future disease for oneself and others.

Join us for this very rare and special event with Drukmo Gyal Dakini combining body, energy, and mind through movement, mantra, and meditation.

Drukmo Gyal Dakini, visiting the United States for the very first time, is trained in both the medical and yogic traditions of Tibet. She will teach the basic theory behind Tibetan Mantra Healing, transmit the mantras that treat the inner and sense organs, known in Tibetan Medicine as the ‘five flowers,’ and teach the corresponding exercises from a Tibetan system of therapeutic yoga called Nejang. A professional singer who tours the world performing, she will share her healing melodies for us to chant together as a group.
